Visa for Digital Nomads
Portugal’s Digital Nomad visa (D8 Visa), which provides freelancers and remote workers with convenient and exciting opportunities, allows you to live the flexibility of a digital nomad lifestyle.
Quick Overview
This section gives a brief summary of how the Digital Nomad Visa opens up a world of prospects in Portugal and the EU, including accelerated residency and a variety of investment opportunities.
Why Portugal?
Under the D7 visa program, non-EU nationals can live in Portugal, travel to Schengen nations, and get healthcare and education benefits. Applicants for an eligible visa must be able to support themselves and their families financially and have a clean criminal record.
It’s crucial to note that close family members in Portugal, including parents, spouses, and children, are excluded from paying this tax. Everyone else is liable for inheritance-related taxes, sometimes known as stamp duty. Both gifts made during a person’s lifetime and assets inherited after a death are subject to this specific tax. It should be noted that only assets located in Portugal are subject to Portuguese Stamp Duty. For example, a 0.8% stamp duty must be paid when a property is given to someone who is not a member of the immediate family. However, a 10% Stamp Duty is applied if people inherit or receive gifts that are free of charge.
